“Living in Louisiana, we understand that being impacted by a hurricane is not a question of if, but when. Your best tool against a hurricane is preparation,” said LDAF Commissioner Mike Strain, D.V.M. “I’m urging everyone to have a plan in place for you, your family, your property, and your pets/livestock for this upcoming hurricane season.”
Hurricane season begins June 1 and lasts through November. Now is the time for residents to make a list of items to replenish hurricane emergency supplies and start thinking about how to prepare for the coming hurricane season.

We are recognizing a few of our deputies who consistently go above and beyond for our agency and our community.
This evening, Deputy Reeves and Deputy Bellow presented a check to Sisters Surviving Breast Cancer Group. Our deputies make an annual contribution during "No Shave November" to show their support for this important cause. We are grateful for the opportunity to give back to our community.
The vision of “Bingo with a Purpose” was to provide numerous resources to our seniors while also allowing them to engage with other seniors, local dignitaries, and members of law enforcement.
We were glad to have had the opportunity to assist Phillips 66 and Calcasieu Council on Aging in delivering Thanksgiving meals to homebound seniors in our parish.
Our deputies had a wonderful time at Ralph Wilson Elementary School's Fall Fest. We were happy to cook burgers, play basketball, and demonstrate some of our tools to the students. It was a pleasure to interact with the students and provide treat bags for everyone. Thank you for inviting us to be part of such a fun event.
Thank you to everyone who made the third annual "Stroll to the Polls" event a success. It was heartening to see several first-time voters in attendance exercising their fundamental American right to vote. We appreciate the support from The Vessel Project of Louisiana and Jana Eaves in offsetting the event costs. Let's continue to promote and encourage voting leading up to the election on Tuesday, November 5th.
We understand that there may be a lot of questions and concerns about the upcoming demolition of the Capital One Tower. For the latest and most accurate information, we ask that you visit the link below. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this time. Thank you.
Law Enforcement hosts workshop focused on Mental Health.
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - What happens when law enforcement officers need help? The Ward 3 Marshal’s Office held a workshop today about the importance of mental health for law enforcement officers.
“Their mental health is much more important than our mental health in lots of respects because they are that thin blue line; they are walking the line between order and chaos in their society, so if they’re walking their own personal line on mental health, they can’t serve our community,” said LCPS Dawn-Petrice Youngs.
